Withers Plans new Office with Hedge Fund Strategy

Withers, the private client law firm, plans to open an office in Greenwich, Connecticut, in an attempt to tap into the burgeoning hedge fund wealth in the town. According to The Lawyer, the firm plans to open an office in Greenwich in the second half of 2006, making it the third US office after New York and New Haven. Greenwich is considered one of the richest towns in the US and is the base for many of Withers' current, and hopefully future, clients. "There are very few firms in Greenwich and no international firms at all," the firm's UK managing director Margaret Robertson told The Lawyer. "Many of the clients there currently use New York firms." Ms Robertson added that the firm would also be looking at establishing a West Coast presence in the future, although this was not currently on the immediate agenda. Withers has recently opened an office in Geneva and has hired extensively from Baker & McKenzie to staff the office.
